Perham swimmers win big at Fosston-Bagley

The Yellowjacket girl’s swim team looked  in mid-season form as they competed in their 1^st full meet of the season Thursday night.  They traveled to Fosston and earned a 79-15 win over the Fosston-Bagley Seals.

“We had a really good night with some outstanding times for our first full swim meet of the season,” head coach Sheri Ressler said.

The Jackets experience showed through as they won each of the 11 varsity events.  Kelsey Kratzke  and Natalie Murphy were winners in each of the 4 events they competed in.  Bailey Meyer,  Rylie Rothmeyer and Lexi Richter were 3-time winners.

Kratzke and Murphy both had a pair of individual wins, Kratzke in the 200 I.M. (2:36.62) and the 100 breaststroke (1:16.37), and Murphy in the 50 free (26.79) and the 100 free (59.86).  Both were part of the 1^st place 200 Medley Relay along with Meyer and Richter with a time of 2:05.18.  Kratzke, Murphy, Richter and Sam Salathe took 1^st in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:51.88.

Meyer and Rothmeyer also had a pair of individual wins.  Meyer finished 1^st in the 100 butterfly (1:09.36) and the 100 backstroke (1:09.29).  Rothmeyer was the winner in the 200 freestyle (2:13.99) and the 500 free (5:56.06).

Finally, the team of Richter, Rothmeyer, Salathe and Jackie Hanson won the 400 free relay with a time of 4:09.17.

Several girl’s had Section qualifying times during the in, including: Rothmeyer (200 free, 500 free),  Kratzke (200 I.M., 100 breaststroke),  Meyer (100 fly, 100 backstroke),  Salathe (100 fly),  Murphy (100 Free),  Hanson (200 Free),  Kyra Arneri (50 free), and Jill Burns (500 free).

The J.V. also won in their dual with F-B, 59-26.  Annie Ingebrand, an 8th grader, broke the PWMS 100 freestyle school record with a time of 1:03.62.

The Perham/NY Mills girl’s will head north again on Sept. 12 when they have a dual meet at Bemidji, starting at 5 p.m.
