Otters pin their way to 37-36 win over Detroit Lakes

The Fergus Falls wrestling team traveled to Detroit Lakes on Tuesday night and returned home with a thrilling 37-36 dual meet victory over the Lakers.

Going into the, 152 pound match the Lakers led 27-7.  Brandon Spies (106), Tyler Bellefeuille (113), Zach Baker (132) all won by fall in that stretch.

Fergus Falls finished with pins in 5 of the finals 6 matches.  Matt Laugen recorded a pin for the Otters before Walker Heinen lost a close decision at 160 to Travis Kienitz.  Then Fergus Falls reeled off four pins in a row from Justin Polejewski, Hayden Zenner, Gus Makovsky and Abram Aho to make the score 37-30, Fergus Falls.  The Lakers heavyweight James Huwe won the final match by pin, putting the final at 37-36.

Detroit Lakes will host the Mid-State Conference Tournament on Saturday, Jan. 28.
