Perham Area Special Olympic athletes compete at State Bocce Tournament

Special Olympics Minnesota hosted the 2012 Fall Games, August 17-19.  The Perham Area Special Olympics Team took 11 athletes to the Bocce tournament, which was held at East Ridge High school in Woodbury for singles and doubles competition.

Singles results were:

1st place: Jake Hessig, Jack Denker, Ryan Schattschneider, Troy Tierney.

2nd place: Tyler Olsen, Tom Vezner, Tyler Devries.

3rd place: Vernon (Kenny) Parrish, Philip Tweeton, Chris Johnson

4th place: Richie Kempenich

In between competition the athletes participated in Healthy Athletes and Olympic Town activities.  Saturday evening the athletes attended the banquet, opening ceremony and a dance, to round out the day.

Sunday morning back on the courts for doubles competition. All the Perham Area teams took 2nd place.

Teams consisted of: Philip Tweeton & Jake Hessig;  Tom Vezner & Jack Denker;  and Tyler Olsen & Troy Tierney.
